At Nature Lake, we’re committed to a clean environment, in your home and outside of it. That’s why we created our sustainability-focused line of cleaning products — no plastic bottles or toxic chemicals anywhere in the vicinity, thank you. It’s our aim to reduce the plastic in our oceans and landfills while you keep your home sparkling clean with safe, non-toxic solutions.
If you’re a conscientious consumer who is also committed to sustainability, which you probably are if you’ve sought us out, you know that we’re not the only company focusing on sustainable cleaning products for your home. How do you know which to choose? Whose products and solutions are best? Here’s some information about a couple of the other sustainable cleaning companies out there — and the key differences that set Nature Lake apart.
Grove
Grove is, in essence, a clearinghouse that curates and sells more than 150 sustainable brands. These include brands you can find at Target or other stores, including Meyer’s, Seventh Generation, and even Arm & Hammer baking soda, in addition to Grove’s own line of products. Categories run the gamut from home cleaning to kitchen products like utensils and sink strainers to pet vitamins and supplements.
Key differences from Nature Lake
- Nature Lake focuses squarely on home cleaning products. Grove is all over the map.
- Nature Lake uses no plastic bottles, ever. Many (if not the majority) of the brands found on Grove, like Meyer’s and Method, are sold in plastic.
- Nature Lake uses tablets, which dissolve in water. Grove uses cleaner concentrates.
Blueland
Blueland was started by a new mother who was alarmed by the microplastics contaminating our water supply and getting into our foods. She tried to find cleaning and personal care products not packaged in plastic. Seeing the lack of options, she, decided to form her own company to provide plastic alternatives to like-minded consumers. Like Nature Lake, Blueland offers tablets, and also “bombs” and powders, along with bottles. Their lines include home cleaning, dishwashing, laundry, and personal care.
Key difference from Nature Lake
There’s one major difference between us and Blueland, but it’s a big one. Plastic. All of Nature Lake’s reusable bottles are made of glass. Period. We will never use plastic bottles, ever. Blueland sells Glass Forever Bottles for hand soap in their starter kit. Other bottles, like spray bottles for their home cleaning products and bottles for their body wash, are called Forever Bottles. They are made of Tritan plastic, which is free of BPA, BPS, and all other bisphenols, and is touted to be “the safest plastic in the world.” It’s recyclable and made in part from recycled materials, and is called a great alternative to conventional plastic. It’s still plastic.
